Volunteer Coordinators – Two fixed term posts have recently become available with the Community Connections Project in Monmouthshire. A Full time post based in Monmouth until 31 October 2016 to support Community Connections Befriending Team. Also a Full time post based in Abergavenny until 31 March 2016 to support Monmouthshire County Council’s Intermediate Care Fund project (ICF). Torfaen Play – Dad and Me Forum

“Dad and Me” Forum The “Dad and Me “forum is going from strength to strength with 43 Dads attending with 55 children. The forum is delivered in partnership with Torfaen Play, Families First and Communities First.   Four forums have taken place to date at Greenmeadow Community Farm which is an ideal venue as the Dads take their children around the farm after the session.   The forum also enables dads to spend quality time playing with their children as well the opportunity to meet other Dads and find out information, support and guidance. Speak out to stop scams from spreading, says Torfaen Trading Standards. Torfaen Trading Standards team is calling on residents in Torfaen to expose scams and help stop more people from falling prey to clever cons that fleece them of thousands of pounds. Scams Awareness Month launched on 1 July and will be highlighting how scams continue to flourish when people stay silent. Figures show that less than 5% of victims report scams to the authorities, and Torfaen Trading Standards is encouraging residents to report suspicious activities, get advice if they think they’ve been conned, and to warn others to help stop scams from spreading.
