With the Spring now here, it’s time to take a look back on the Community Winter Support Fund, with support from Welsh Government and Third Sector Support Wales.

Over the course of the last four months, TVA has awarded nearly £40,000 in grant funding.

The purpose of this grant was to help and support those under pressure during the winter period. The fund can be accessed by third sector and not for profit organisations/groups to support any age group and we welcome your ideas on how to do so.

The funding panel has recently met for the final time and decided on the following:

Torfaen Citizen’s Advice were awarded £17,500.

The aim of the project is to support the most vulnerable clients in Torfaen, providing them with long term energy saving measures to reduce their energy bills. Also providing them with energy advice to reduce fuel poverty.

Operations Executive Officer, Aimi Morris said;

“Supporting some of the most vulnerable through the winter months was always the aim, but it’s also just the start of what supporting groups and residents across Torfaen is about. Winter might be over, but the cost of living has been increasing across the UK since early 2021 and in January 2022, inflation reached its highest recorded level since 1992, affecting the affordability of goods and services for households. The support provided by the many groups across the borough is just the tip of the iceberg”
