Santa Dash raises funds for Age Connects Torfaen
Hundreds of runners dressed in Santa costumes having taken part in the annual festive Age Connects Torfaen Santa run.
This was the first time the event was held for the first time since the pandemic.
The annual fun run attracted 300 people dressed in Santa suits, reindeer antlers, and their own Christmas creations to Pontypool Park on Sunday, December 5.
People ran or walked either 2k or 5k through the park, raising £1500 for Age Connects Torfaen charity in the process.
The funding raised will be used to purchase an indoor and outdoor defibrillator for the Widdershins Centre and local community.
Emma Wootten, Development Co-ordinator of Age Connects Torfaen, said:
Our annual Santa Dash is always such a great event which kicks off the Christmas season. We really missed not being able to host it last year due to coronavirus restrictions, so it felt extra special to get our community together again for one of our favourite festive events.
It just shows the strength of community in Torfaen – everybody comes together for big events like this. There was a fantastic atmosphere and the sea of Christmas outfits was a sight to behold.
Thank you to everyone who signed up and fundraised for us; the support we’ve been shown has been truly amazing for the Charity. Thank you also to our incredible volunteers who carried out important duties, including registering our Santa Dashers and marshalling around the course – we couldn’t have done it without their loyal support.
