Soroptimist International is celebrating its one-hundred-year birthday!

Soroptimist International is a global volunteer movement with a network of around 72,000 club members in 121 countries. Advocating for human rights and gender equality, at the heart of Soroptimist International’s advocacy is its work across seven UN Centres, where the UN representatives ensure that the voices of women and girls are heard. Their membership work on grassroots projects that help women and girls achieve their individual and collective potential, realise aspirations, and have an equal voice in communities worldwide.

Soroptimists from across the world have joined together to celebrate 100 years of Soroptimist International and celebrate a ‘Bright Past’ and a ‘Brilliant Future’. including attending a virtual conference with members from over one hundred countries. It was an inspiring conference reinforcing because they belong to an organisation that strives to make a difference especially to the lives of women and girls.

Cwmbran Soroptimist International’s October meeting was a little “different”. They celebrated 100 years of Soroptimism by dressing in 1920’s style, listening to 1920’s music and songs and some very brave members even danced 1920′ s style. Well done to Pat, Lynne and Yvonne and thank you to Jordanna, Ruth and Veronica the guest musicians.

If you are a woman who would like to make a difference, why not contact and find out all about them. They can offer friendship, fellowship, and fun! The website is www.sigbi.org/cwmbran or find them on Facebook
