Torfaen Youth Grant aim to support a range of small volunteering projects and activities, led and carried out by young people, with applications selected and recommended by a panel of young people aged 14-25. The GwirVol Youth Led Grants scheme aims to prioritise delivery of volunteering opportunities with and for a diverse range of young people (aged 14-25) and particularly: Young people from disadvantaged communities: Communities First areas and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities. Young people with physical or learning disabilities. Requests for up to a maximum of £1000 will be considered. The Be Independent helpline has been set up by the Local Service Board in partnership with Local Authority, Health Board, Police, Third Sector & Other groups. As a one number enquiry line the aim is to assist with any query that members of the public may have. The helpline itself does not provide any services, but everyone on the team will try their best to refer members of the public to organisations or support groups that can help with the services required. The service is intended for people who are not sure where to find a service that is right for them. Stress Control Classes Anyone who missed the first two rounds of the six week stress control classes Torfaen, can still join the programme – they commence again on: Wednesday 29th July at 1pm – 3 pm Pontypool Active Living Centre Torfaen and Blaenau Gwent Mind and Torfaen Primary Care Mental Health Support Service will be co-delivering another programme of 6 classes on Stress Control. The classes will teach attendees how to manage stress in their everyday life, using a combination of tested techniques.
