Within the Third Sector across Torfaen and wider area we have all become aware of the increasing pressures to sustain organisations and the services they provide. As the umbrella organisation Torfaen Voluntary Alliance has been endeavouring to bring together the larger employing Third Sector Organisations in order that we, and they, together, can support the smaller organisations to continue with the invaluable services they offer in line with the preventative Welsh Government Agenda. Carers Trust Wales will this summer be hosting the biggest gathering of carers aged 16-25 ever in Wales. Young adult carers are young people who care, unpaid, for a friend or family member who could not cope without their support. We’re very fortunate to be able to host a two-day residential for young adult carers for free on 23/24 June at Trinity St. David, Carmarthen. It will offer young adult carers a unique opportunity for an always important break from caring, as well as the chance to meet other young adult carers and experience university life first-hand. The classes will teach attendees How your mind works How your reactions may be making problems worse How to make wise choices How to do what matters to you How to face up to life The classes are free and are open to ANYONE in the community who wishes to attend – no assessment, no registration and no waiting list – just turn up, listen and learn. Police and Crime Commissioner – Voluntary Sector Development Officer MEET the new Voluntary Sector Development Officer for the Police and Crime Commissioners, Gwent. This is a brand new role and is brought about by collaboration between Torfaen Voluntary Alliance (TVA), the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) and GAVO (Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations).
