Once again Christmas is fast approaching and our thoughts turn to the young people in Torfaen who are experiencing poverty and have no contact with their families. The Santa Appeal has been run by Torfaen Social Services for the past ten years.   This has been a tremendous success, thanks to the generosity of all those who have participated in this appeal. Once again we are appealing for donations of a Christmas gift, which will make Christmas special for those children and young people who might otherwise miss out. TCBC – Volunteer Mentors Wanted

Whatever your skills and experience, and however much time you can offer, we have a volunteering opportunity for you. You will receive support and training if you need it, and you will make a real difference to the lives of care leavers. We are looking for volunteers aged 18 plus who can spare some of their free time to mentor young people who are care leavers. Heritage Lottery Fund Workshops for New Grants Programme

The Heritage Lottery Fund is providing pre-application information workshops across the UK in preparation for the launch of its new £10 million Kick the Dust grants programme on 23 September. In two weeks, the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) will open its new Kick the Dust grants programme which is intended to support ambitious youth-focused projects that transform how heritage organisations engage with young people (aged 11 to 25 years). Grants of between £500,000 and £1 million for projects that take between three to five years to complete will be available to consortia of three or more organisations, including heritage and youth organisations. A new £8 million annual investment programme to support organisations in the UK to manage their heritage better has been launched by the Heritage Lottery Fund. The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) has opened new £8 million annual investment programme, Resilient Heritage, to support UK based organisations to build their capacity or achieve strategic change in order to improve the management of heritage in the long term. Not for profit organisations and partnerships led by not for profit organisations are invited to apply for grants of between £3,000 and £250,000.
