Alzhiemer’S Society Cymru would like you to be based in one of the following areas: Caerphilly, Newport, Torfaen, Monmouthshire or Blaenau Gwent. Activities will vary depending on the needs and priorities of your locality, however are likely to include some of the following: * Attending a range of meetings with a wide variety of external agencies as a representative of the Society, in particular local health and social care bodies, CCG’s, GP groups, lay scrutiny groups and any dementia specialist subgroups as they develop * Linking to local Dementia Action Alliances and/or Dementia Forums * Linking to Dementia Friendly Communities developments * Making contact with elected representatives to promote the Society’s work and raise issues relevant to the local constituency * Linking to local groups, […]

Able Radio – Volunteers Needed

Based in Upper Cwmbran, Able is a unique project for adults with autism and learning disabilities. Creativity underpins all activities in their large facility which includes radio studios and designated activity zones. Staff support service users in developing their skills and confidence. Opportunities exist for focussed volunteers to get involved in all aspects of operations. Volunteering at Able offers a genuine chance to improve the lives of people by providing guidance and support in their chosen activity. There are currently three areas offering a volunteering opportunity. This includes art/crafts, sports and media. Torfaen Youth Grant 2016

Torfaen Youth Grant aim to support a range of small volunteering projects and activities, led and carried out by young people, with applications selected and recommended by a panel of young people aged 14-25. The GwirVol Youth Led Grants scheme  aims to prioritise delivery of volunteering opportunities with and for a diverse range of young people (aged 14-25) and particularly: Young people from disadvantaged communities: Communities First areas and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities. Young people with physical or learning disabilities. Requests for up to a maximum of £1000 will be considered. All funding received must be spent by the end of February 2017. Torfaen Santa Appeal

Once again Christmas is fast approaching and our thoughts turn to the young people in Torfaen who are experiencing poverty and have no contact with their families. The Santa Appeal has been run by Torfaen Social Services for the past ten years.   This has been a tremendous success, thanks to the generosity of all those who have participated in this appeal. Once again we are appealing for donations of a Christmas gift, which will make Christmas special for those children and young people who might otherwise miss out.
