We have some exciting opportunities to help shape the future of health care in NHS Wales through undertaking an Independent Member role on a Board, so why not be part of making a difference to your health services in NHS Wales? We are recruiting to the following Heath Board:-  Aneurin Bevan University Health Board –  Blaenau Gwent, Caerphiily, Monmouthshire, Newport, Torfaen and South Powys. We are recruiting for an Independent Member role in the above organisation.  Details of the role are below.  If you have a genuine desire to make a real difference in these areas, we would like to hear from you. In order to meet the challenge of planning and delivering a wide range of primary, community and secondary health services to the populations of Blaenau Gwent, Caerphiily, Monmouthshire, Newport, Torfaen and South Powys as well as working with partners to promote health and well-being in these areas, Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is looking for an Independent Member (Community). This Independent Member will need to demonstrate a knowledge of and an empathy with local community issues and priorities, a citizen focussed approach in championing the board’s purpose in serving the public and experience and skills that will support the Health Board in developing its community engagement initiatives. The University Health Board will be particularly interested in hearing from applicants who are able to meet the above mentioned criteria in relation to the communities of Caerphilly and Blaenau Gwent. Independent Members Independent Members are expected to work with their Executive Director colleagues to develop strategy, policy and ensure sound governance. They will also be expected to play an active role to ensure the Health Board/Trust delivers services and performs effectively at a strategic and operational level. They will have a key communication and engagement role within the Health Board/Trust and are expected to bring an independent view to the Board to challenge as appropriate financial and service plans. Appointments will be made on merit although consideration will be given to geographical spread across the Health Board/Trust catchment area and the need to establish a balanced skills mix. Independent Members will be appointed for up to four (4) years and the post is based on a notional time commitment of a minimum of four (4) days per month, but this will be subject to organisational demands. Eligible members will be entitled to receive a remuneration of £15,936 per annum. We are particularly interested in hearing from under-represented groups such as women, disabled people and ethnic minority individuals and the skills you have to make a contribution in these roles.
