Sainsbury’s Welsh Community Fund Programme 

Grants are available to community groups, registered charities, social enterprises and other not-for-profit groups in Wales for projects, activities and services that are aligned to Sainsbury's values of food, family, kids and health. Current Status - Open for Applications Maximum value: - £ 500 Objectives of Fund - Sainsbury is providing funding for a range of charitable projects and activities which fit Sainsbury’s core values of food, family, kids, and health as well as arts and culture, environment and social welfare. Value Notes - The maximum grant available is £500. Who Can Apply Registered and exempt charities, constituted community groups, Community Association Sports Clubs (CASCs), schools, Community Interest Companies (CICs), Social Enterprises, and Registered Societies (previously called Provident and Industrial Societies) can apply. To be eligible, applicants must:
  • Operate in Wales.
  • Have a constitution.
  • Be able to provide a set of audited accounts.
Restrictions The following are not eligible for funding:
  • Salaries and other core costs.
  • Fundraising events or challenges.
  • Individuals.
  • Activities which distribute funds to other organisations.
  • Refurbishment to fabric of buildings.
  • Expeditions.
  • Overseas travel.
  • Promotion of religion.
  • Political activities.
  • Sponsorship and marketing promotions.
  • Retrospective costs (activities which have already taken place).
  • Equipment currently available under the Active Kids Programme. This includes school sports kits, school cooking or gardening equipment.
Eligible Expenditure Funding is for projects, services, activities or equipment that are aligned to the Sainsbury's values of food, family, kids and health. This could include:
  • Food – healthy eating projects, nutrition advice, skills training, etc.
  • Family – community/family projects, charity events, etc.
  • Kids – playgroups, play schemes, school/youth organisations.
  • Health – sports activities, coaching, disabled sports, etc.
  • Arts and culture – choirs, art exhibitions, music projects, etc.
  • Environment – wildlife parks, conservation projects, clean-up activities, etc.
  • Social Welfare – support for the elderly, food banks, etc.
Examples of things Sainsbury’s might fund are:
  • Children’s touch rugby tournament.
  • Local veg box scheme leaflets.
  • Community choir hall costs.
  • Heritage sites’ volunteer expenses.
  • Fitness programmes for elderly people.
