Cwmbran Community Council will deliver a balanced programme of inclusive play activities which we hope will make a difference to your child’s summer. The Playschemes are provided for children aged between 5 to 11.
Children will learn and develop through play, in a safe environment supervised by dedicated staff who know how to keep children happy & secure, giving parents peace of mind and the children some unforgettable childhood memories.
Whether your children enjoy sports, team games, putting on a show or quieter activities like arts & crafts, there is something for every child in Cwmbran this summer. If the sun shines, we go outdoors, if it rains, the fun moves inside.
IMPORTANT CHANGES TO PLAYSCHEME THIS YEAR:
- Children under the age of 8 are only able to attend from 10 am to 11.59 am
- Children 8 and above can attend from 10 am to 4 pm
- The £5 Registration is per family and not per child
- Playschemes are 10 am until 4 pm
- There is a welsh speaking playscheme being held at Ysgol Gymraeg Cwmbran
If you require further information please email- firstname.lastname@example.org or ring 01633 624152
How to apply
The Council charges only £5 per family, NOT CHILD. This one-off, non-refundable payment must be paid when registering your child at the council’s offices. You can pay by cash or cheque. Cheques should be payable to Cwmbran Community Council. We are unable to accept payment by card, sorry or register a child without payment in advance.
Because we serve the community of Cwmbran, children who attend any of the schools which have allowed us to use their site have first priority to register for the Playschemes.
Participating schools will let every child have a Parents Information Booklet and a Registration Form on 15th June 2015. The form should be completed and returned to Cwmbran Community Council as soon as possible to eliminate disappointment as places are limited. But we will do our best to accommodate as many children as we have spaces for.
Please complete the whole form or your application may not be accepted.
Children who attend other Schools in Cwmbran, or live in Cwmbran area but attend other schools, can apply to the council for a registration form from 15th June 2015 and submit it as soon as possible. These applications will be considered after 22th June 2015 on a “first come, first served” basis.
Most of our sites will accommodate 150 children. A further 50 children will also be placed onto a reserve list and will be contacted if spaces become available.
Our Quality Assurance
Our staff are subject to DBS Checks, Disclosure and Barring Service Checks. They are trained in key areas such as Child Protection, First Aid and Health & Safety. They are experts in delivering play and/or working with children.
Clear routines and programmes are put in place so that children and parents know what to expect.
Playschemes operate through the medium of the English language. A Welsh language playscheme is being held at Ysgol Gymraeg Cwmbran.
Ways in which you can help
The Playschemes are open from 10 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday. Children will remain on site throughout this time.
Children should bring packed lunches and drinks. We will not be able to refrigerate any items.
We try to involve all children in all activities, as much as they feel comfortable. A general consent form will need to be completed at the start of the Playschemes and specific consent forms may need to be completed as new activities are planned. Please return any consent forms promptly so that we can make sure that all children enjoy the fun. We also ask that children remain well behaved and listen carefully to any instructions given by staff. We reserve the right to exclude any child exhibiting continuous bad behaviour. We will contact you if this becomes necessary.
We may take photographs of everyone having fun at our Playschemes. These photos may be used in council literature or on council websites or the council’s social media pages. Please let us know beforehand if you do not want your child included in any photos.
Finally, during the Playschemes, we will send you a questionnaire. Please return this as it will help us make our Playschemes even better next year!
We hope all children have a great time at our Playschemes, but if there any concerns or complaints, parents should approach the Supervisor on the site. If the problem cannot be resolved, the Supervisor will contact the Manager of the Playschemes who will visit the site and try to rectify the problem.
If the problem persists parents should contact the Council direct.
This year, our Playschemes will be held over eight sites.
