Carers Trust Wales will this summer be hosting the biggest gathering of carers aged 16-25 ever in Wales. Young adult carers are young people who care, unpaid, for a friend or family member who could not cope without their support. We’re very fortunate to be able to host a two-day residential for young adult carers for free on 23/24 June at Trinity St. David, Carmarthen. It will offer young adult carers a unique opportunity for an always important break from caring, as well as the chance to meet other young adult carers and experience university life first-hand. Student support services and Student Finance Wales will also be on hand to talk to young adult carers about the support available to them when they go to university. As well as the chance to participate in fun activities and sports, there will be taster lectures in a whole range of higher education subjects including Art, Health and Social Care, Classics, Engineering and Education Studies. We’re keen to make sure that the event reaches as many young adult carers as possible and would appreciate your help in spreading the word, it would be great if you could circulate this information to your networks and services that work with carers who are aged 16-25. And if you work with young adult carers yourself? It would be even better if you could join us – have a look at the information below and we’re also able to cover some transport costs and staff time You can register young adult carers/support staff for the event and find out about funding for transport and staff time here: http://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/young-adult-carers-time-to-be-heard-residential-tickets-16156580768 The deadline for registration is 1 June 2015.
